Left Behind At The Thrift...

A vintage impostor!

In my most recent trip to Goodwill, I was tempted into buying an 8 x 10 picture frame. Not because it was a lovely piece that would make a nice addition to my wall.  It wasn't nice. It rather was dingy and dilapidated. And not because I particularly needed an 8 x 10 frame. I don't need one...at all. And especially not because I  had any spaces in need of decor. I haven't an inch of space to spare in that department.

I considered buying it, of all things, for the faux vintage photo insert behind the glass. This dapper gentleman, however didn't have quite enough allure. If he was on an actual photograph in that frame--a genuine vintage article with a slick pompadour, I'd have happily forked over the $2.50.

But for the sake of having more pocket money for a worthwhile purchase, and not cluttering the house with items that don't really strike my fancy, I'll leave it behind for someone else to find.

I love those old photos!! Cracker Barrel restaurants hang up many of them. I, too, have no room for them but wish I did. Have you seen photos of the new Impact in Bensalem? Is that closer for you? Have a great day!

I leave behind lots of "bargains". As a professional re-seller/"treasure hunter", I need to have a narrower focus. I see 20 items in a thrift shop that are really bargain priced, but if I can only readily sell 2 of them, and only one will make enough money to warrant me buying the item, then I will only leave with that one item. www.pickersjournal.blogspot.com

I like Let's Go Thrifting on Facebook!

I have a box where I stick a bunch of found photos. The box is dilapidated.

I really miss the Cracker Barrel. Fond memories.

Arlene: That's so funny. I was just having breakfast at Cracker Barrel the other day was wondering aloud if those photos were mock-vintage reproductions or if they were individually decorated in each restaurant. Pretty cool looking nonetheless. I just read about the Impact plans for Feasterville, which is a much closer drive from my house than Montgomeryville or even Hatboro. Very exciting!

Well said, Canadian Bear. It pays to be picky when thrifting, and especially with re-selling!

Hey, Sir. Thanks for the Facebook support. I have amassed one of those big binders for all of my favorite vintage photos. There just isn't enough wall space to frame them all!

Are there no Cracker Barrel restaurants near you? That's a tragedy. I could eat their breakfast ay any time of the day.

No, I don't think they have them in Canada at all. We used to go as a family (aunts, grandparents, mom, sister) to Frankenmuth in Michigan & to the Cracker Barrel.

Great times.

I've hardly bought anything recently. There's just been nothing good. Boo hoo! I think I need a celestial wishlist of thrift and hope that the charity shop Gods come through.

That said, I have loads of vintage photos of aged members of my family, which is pretty cool.

I hear ya loud and clear, Lakota. I've kind of been having a dry spout in the thrift lately, too. And I have a wishlist. No godlike intervention for me...yet! Ha ha.

That's great. After my grandmother passed this summer, we went through all of her old photos. It was amazing to see her photographed around my age now. Needless to say, I kept most of them...even the candid shots.

I have sooo many clothes. I really have to be careful these days, so I find myself leaving more and more clothes behind...sigh...

I wish I had that problem, Style Agent. I find way too many nonsensical, novelty things that I love and never enough wardrobe pieces. I'm working on changing all that! I'm on the hunt for a lovely little vintage wardrobe.
