Fresh from my collection of vintage photographs is this stunning snapshot, personally inscribed by the photographer.
This is Mildred and her son Kenneth, circa 1940. I'm loving Mildred's bright smile and perfectly coiffed victory curl. And despite her physical disability (note the shorter leg and walking stick) she's a proud and capable mama.
Happy Mother's Day to all the proud and capable mamas out there.

I love this image to my core. Everything about Mildred is beautiful and inspiring - the fact that she's rocking gorgeous shoes, in spite of her physical disability, just makes me adore - and relate to - her all the more.

Thanks for commenting, Jessica. I do love this photo, too. It has a lot of charm...and a lot of power to it. And to tell you the truth, I didn't notice her disability at all when I first glanced at the photo. I found it at a Vintage Book and Ephemera Fair and the vendor actually pointed it out to me. I had to have the photo after seeing that. Very inspiring and beautiful, indeed!
