Thrift-Gifting can be a sllllooooow process. |
Do you ever wonder how I come to own so many lovely, little finds from the thrift store? While I am tempted by a miscellany of secondhand wares at the thrift, hunting the perfect thrifted gift doesn't always come as easily to me.
(Well, some of them may be).
Some of you may recall some of my tips on the fine art of thrift-gifting. And again, I must say that the two big takeaway points to remember when looking for the perfect secondhand present are time and patience.
This is especially true when you're not sure what, if anything, you're are looking for specifically. I happened upon this quirky little find over a month ago.
Not one, but two snails. Perfect! |
As soon as I spotted these sparkling gastropods I knew which of my snail-loving friends would be getting a special thrifted-gift as one of her birthday presents. This little pair was a big hit. And what's more?
Snail bonus! |
These snails can hold teeny weeny trinkets in their conch. Sweet!
So, again...my key tips on thrift-gifting are:
- Dedicate time to the pursuit long before the gift-giving occasion.
- Be patient. Don't buy items you're not convinced will be loved for lack of finding anything better.
- Snails may not be admired by all. But to the right person, this thrifted-gift can be a rare delicacy indeed.

Great tips. I always look for things that I know someone will love, and it is amazing what you find if you just keep an eye open. Love those snails. Fabulous find. Hugs, Marty
Hi there, Marty. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who puts serious thought into finding lovely thrifted-gifts. I'm always on the lookout for that little something special that I know a friend would love.
Aren't the snails adorable? I've been dying to give them to my friend for a month. And I also really had to restrain myself from blogging about them too, lol.

Very true, with thrifting you need to always be vigilant. Keep hunting consistently and regularly and you'll find everything you need.
So true, Van. I feel like sooner or later everything on my wish list will turn up at the thrift or flea market eventually!
