Special Announcement: The Big 5-0 Giveaway.

"What's in the box? What's in the box!?"

In an effort for better branding and a broader readership base, I’ve been plotting and planning new and exciting ways to boost the ratings here on Let’s Go Thrifting! I would also like a promotion to thank all of our loyal readers already aboard the Let's Go Thrifting! ship.

So, dear readers, here’s the big reveal: When the blog reaches a milestone amount of followers, each and every one of you is eligible to win free prizes!

All that is required of you is to officially follow the blog. At present, there are 31 loyal followers.

I’ve decided that the first benchmark for success is the big 5-0. That’s right. Once we at Let’s Go Thrifting! reach 50 followers, I will randomly draw one name and that lucky reader will win a prize.

The prizes will be kitsch, craft or vintage-inspired thrifted goods that will be shipped to the lucky winner’s home free of charge.

I’ve been to several of my favorite thrift stores in the past few days searching for that something special to be the first Let’s Go Thrifting freebie. And while I’ve got nothing yet, rest assured. Once I find the prize, it will be posted for all to see!

In the meantime, I bet you’re wondering what you can do to help the process. Well here it is, in two easy steps:
  1. If you’re a casual reader of Let’s Go Thrifting! who maybe looks at all the photos and gives a little chuckle now and again, go ahead and Follow the Blog. If you’re a fellow blogger, our recent updates will automatically appear in your blog’s dashboard. If not, you also have the option to follow through Google Friend Connect and view all the posts on your Google Reader. If you don’t have a Google account or if you  prefer to subscribe to the blog with another reader system, follow the feed through a reader of your choice here. We have also just added the option to subscribe via e-mail, which will deliver all of our updates right to your inbox.
  2. If you already read and enjoy Let’s Go Thrifting! feel free to link this little giveaway to your blog and let thrift-minded friends know what we at Let’s Go Thrifting! are up to.
So that's it! Just read and enjoy. Maybe you could even leave us some comments or drop us a line and let us know how we are doing. But to enter this first Let's Go Thrifting! giveaway, just follow us on our many thirfting adventures.

Once we hit the big 5-0, I'll announce the winner. In the meantime, stay tuned for updates on our follower tally and the announcement of what the mystery prize will be. Good luck to all our loyal readers and thanks for following Let's Go Thrifting!

Good luck Jackie! How do you set up the email subscription for your blog? I have a lot of not-too-computer-savy readers (i.e. mom's friends) who I'd love to sey that up for. I found the thing within Blogger's settings, but the limit is ten addresses.
Thanks!

Thanks, ladies! It's so nice to have loyal readers. Well I'm not the mos tech-savvy person myself. But if you have set up a RSS feed through Feed Burner, which I recommend, it's not too complicated. If you don't have that set up, I'm not entirely sure of the process. But through Feed Burner, it gives your audience the option to subscribe through a Reader other than Google. After you have that set up, log in to your Feed Burner account through your Google sign-in. Then go under the "Help" tab. Then scroll down to "Feed Services." Then click "Publicize." Then there's an option called "Adding Feed burner E-Mail to Your Typepad or Blogger blog." It will give you a box of html, which you can then copy & paste into your design template. The addresses, I believe are unlimited. And you can log in to your account and periodically check out how many e-mail subscribers you have. Hope that helps! I'm still new to this process myself!

Excellent! Thanks Jackie.

Actually, maybe you can help me with a tech question. How did you manage to get the Facebook Like Box on your blog? Did you go through the Facebook fan page administration? And did you put it Blogger's html gadget function on the design template? I just couldn't get this process to work. But I wasn't sure if it was a blog problem, a Facebook issue, or if I was simply doing something wrong. Help is greatly appreciated! =)

Well I finally got one of the plugins to work on here. But I'm not sure if I like the scrolling or not. I think I like just the box with the profile pics and the fan count. I just can't get it to work. Hmm.

Oh, Facebook just makes things so damn difficult! I spent about two hours dealing with it and then I googled something like "How to add Facebook to your blog" And found this: http://www.bloggerplugins.org/2011/01/facebook-like-fan-box-for-blogger.html

Blogger Plugins seems to be a good source for simple easy to follow blog tutorials. Though it think it took a couple tries to get the Facebook thingie to work.

Sometimes, I need to log out of Blogger, log back in, and then try whatever it is I'm trying to do again. That will usually fix whatever problem I'm having.
It's ridiculous!

OMG, I know. I was sitting here on my laptop for hours trying to figure out what Blogger's problem was...and it was a Facebook coding problem all along. I'm html-illiterate, so this took some time. but finally I got it working. Geez!

since I never find time to read my readers, I just drift aimlessly around the blogosphere, I had neglected to officially follow. I have corrected that. It won't be long!
