Left Behind At The Thrift...

A vintage impostor!

In my most recent trip to Goodwill, I was tempted into buying an 8 x 10 picture frame. Not because it was a lovely piece that would make a nice addition to my wall.  It wasn't nice. It rather was dingy and dilapidated. And not because I particularly needed an 8 x 10 frame. I don't need one...at all. And especially not because I  had any spaces in need of decor. I haven't an inch of space to spare in that department.

I considered buying it, of all things, for the faux vintage photo insert behind the glass. This dapper gentleman, however didn't have quite enough allure. If he was on an actual photograph in that frame--a genuine vintage article with a slick pompadour, I'd have happily forked over the $2.50.

But for the sake of having more pocket money for a worthwhile purchase, and not cluttering the house with items that don't really strike my fancy, I'll leave it behind for someone else to find.

A Special Announcement: Say NO to PIPA and SOPA

Sign the petition. Stop SOPA and PIPA

The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House and The Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate will be voted upon January 24th. And if you've been online in the last few days, chances are you've caught wind of these proposed bills to Congress that would effectively censor websites such as Google, Wikipedia, Craigslist and more. All in the name of combating Internet piracy, these policies will put social networking tools and search engines under a government scope. As a writer, editor, photographer and blogger I find these notions unacceptable. The Internet is for information and communication; it is not just a cesspool of illegally uploaded material that infringes upon copyright laws. While I take copyright seriously, as all writers and creatives must, I must assert that the right to free speech without censorship is priority one.

Please take the time to get informed on these bills and to respond accordingly.

For more information, please check out the End Piracy, Not Liberty campaign launched by Google. Sign the petition and tell Congress that PIPA and SOPA would destroy the online community.

What The Thrift!? Goodwill Welcomes The Local Wildlife.

I saw a snippet on the news this evening that was too perfect not to share, a piece so impeccably timed for the What The Thrift!? edition of Let's Go Thrifting!

In Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, Goodwill employees and customers were befuddled by a surprise visitor with one hell of an entrance.

Deer prancing through the aisles of Goodwill and running smoke in the parking lot? What the Thrift!?
Ah, they were just browsing.

Hey! Maybe I should temporarily change the blog's name to Let's Doe Thrifting! Badump, dump, tiss.
